Monthly Archives: June 2011
Secret’s “Starlight Moonlight” rises two spots to become our new No. 1 song. This is already their second No. 1 song in 2011. The group spent five weeks on top earlier this year with “Shy Boy”. Continuing with the cute image and colorful costumes, Secret now has a run of three straight No. 1 songs on our chart, starting with “Madonna” last year. Even though they don’t get as much attention as other popular girl groups in a highly competitive field, they are definitely one of the fastest rising groups in terms of popularity.
Kim Hyun Joong of SS501 moves up seven spots to No. 2 with his solo hit “Break Down”. Just as we said a few weeks ago Heo Young Saeng’s “Let It Go” was the highest ranked solo hit for SS501 member, Kim Hyun Joong topped that this week. This song already topped Music Bank K Chart for two weeks and M!Countdown this week. Even though “Break Down” is still nearly 100 points behind “Starlight Moonlight”, it will definitely gain in points next week to challenge the top spot.
After two weeks on top, “Fiction” by Beast falls back two spots to No. 3. Beast had completed their promotion on this song, but will come back with the next hit very soon.
Fighting off all the idol and big name singers in the top 10, 4men continues their impressive run on the chart. This week their lead single “One Time In Your Life” moves up six spots to No. 4, and they even have a second song “I Love You” debuting at No. 13. Both songs are considered title songs and 4men has chosen to promote different songs on different media.
The only brand new entry in the top 10 is “Midnight Circus” by Sunnyhill. In fact, this is their first top 10 hit. Originally debuted as a mixed trio, now the group has five members. Their past music is more pop and ballad oriented, but this time “Midnight Circus” is an electronic dance tune which is the trend these days. The song is written by Lee Min Soo and Kim Ina, who has written many great hit songs for Brown Eyed Girls in the past. See any resemblances?
This is the last chart for the first half of 2011. Just like years past, we are going to announce the half year top 10 sometime this week. The competition is getting stronger every year in the k-pop scene now. So far in 2011, many artists already have great songs ranked very high on our chart. In the past, I have pretty good idea which song(s) will come out on top in our summary chart, but truly this year I have no idea until I compile the statistics. What is your choice? Be sure to stay tune and find out whether your favorite artists have a place in the top 10.

Early this morning, KeyEast Entertainment teased fans by unveiling three new photos of SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong. The released photos will be part of Kim Hyun Joong’s limited edition version of his debut solo album “Break Down.” The photos gave fans a taste of all the new treats that will be part of the limited edition album. For his comeback, Kim Hyun Joong underwent a 180 degree transformation, shedding his soft flower boy image to a beastly and manly look. While he was limited to one image during his early promotions of “Break Down,” he displayed his ability to pull off a wide variety of looks – ranging from sexy to sophisticated.
The limited edition album is comprised of a CD, a DVD of music videos, and 48 pages of never-before-seen photos and will be available in offline stores on June 30th. On June 23rd, online reservations for the special album sold out within an hour of its release, and Kim Hyun Joong became the highest selling solo artist this year by selling over 110,000 albums within two weeks of its release.
10. Men Who Are Always Pissing On Everything:
You know the type; for him nothing you do is good enough. You’re too stupid, you’re too fat, you’re too mouthy. Well, the truth is the guy is an idiot trained from birth from his Neanderthal dad to piss all over you and everything you do. Avoid him like you would a pounding headache.
9. Men Who Are Damaged and Like It:
He’s the guy that seems so sensitive and caring when you first meet. He’s able to share with you the heartbreak of a broken relationship. You only find out after a few more encounters that he’s still nursing a broken heart from the relationship he had with someone over ten years ago.
You slowly realize that he’s not so much heartbroken but already committed to never caring about someone again. No matter how much time you spend together, you can never get through. Face it, you never will. The padding around his heart (and his skull) is so thick a neutron bomb won’t pierce through it. So give up and get going. He’s like a drippy faucet that slowly wears you down with false hope until you just want to smash it. (See doll here.)
8. Men Who Love Sports Way Too Much:
There’s a fine line between a great guy who loves sports and the raging maniac that loves sports way too much. How can you love sports TOO much? men would ask in befuddlement. For most women, it’s obvious. A guy loves sport too much when they would rather watch a game than spend time with you.
I realize that ALL men fall into this category after several months of knowing you, but they will occasionally submit their whipped butts to taking you out or holding your purse as you shop, just to stop your fussing. But the sport fanatic won’t care that the house is falling apart, that the baby is crying or that you haven’t been out of the house in 4 months. All he’ll want is a beer, a TV and “some peace”. They are hard to tell apart from the normal healthy male but look out for the signs of obsession, or you’ll be stuck watching every lame game the sports channel has to offer and feeding his burping buddies as your friends go out to dinner and to see the hottest new movie every weekend.(See doll here.)
7. Men Who Thinks He Knows You:
These are the guys who think they are Freud. They spend all their time thinking and little time actually doing anything constructive. They have put a big label on you after one date and a night of conversation.
He’s the guy who sits there watching you, with that stupid smug “I knew it” look on his hound dog face. He’s clearly thinking that by putting a label on you, he has you all figured out and knows just what to do to fix you. He looks at you as if you were some broken piece of pottery he’s going to glue back together.
What’s sad is that he still can’t figure out how to get someone to actually like him, so how is he going to fix you
6. Men Who Are Prettier Than You:
It’s one thing to date a sexy honey who looks like Brad Pitt, it’s quite another story to be with someone who makes you feel like a manly cow just by standing next to him. You know the type, don’t you? He’s the “metro man” who spends more time fluffing his hair just so and takes more time doing it than you would spend painting a barn door.
Ladies, the secret to feeling pretty and feminine is to never date a man that’s more beautiful than you and more delicate than you. So stop feeling like the turd that’s drying out in the sun, and dump the whiny narcissist. (See doll here.)
5. Men Who Think They Are Better Than You:
Have you met him? He’s all about feeling superior. Nobody is good enough for him. He has a laser sharp tongue and can shred anything in sight until it lies in tatters in front of him.
This cold dead fish is unable to break into a smile for fear of splitting his face. He simply takes comfort in feeling that he is better than everybody else. After spending enough time with this guy, you will grow to despise the human race as he does, and crawl around feeling unworthy. Throw him away like you would a mold-filled potato. (See doll here.)
4. Men Who Are Way Too Paranoid:
Something about these green-eyed goblins drives them to think you are cheating, even when you are with them.
They are the ones who seem so confident at first, flirting with you and attracted to your ability to flirt back. You date them and find they really don’t like your clothes (too revealing), your car (too flashy), your friends (sluts), your family (too nosy), your job (too demanding), until you wake up one day to find the only thing you have left in your life is a miserable paranoid weird violent man who can’t stand you out of his sight but can’t stand the sight of you. He needs you to have nothing in your life but him, and you will have nothing unless you wake up and get out. (See doll here.)
3. Men Who Refuse to Grow Up:
Well, my opinionated wife says that if you need to avoid all men who are children, there would be no men to date. Haha. Not funny.
I mean other than the normal guy who wants to have his ego stroked constantly and only do what he wants to do , there are those guys who really are babies. Selfish, spoiled, useless little boys who don’t understand the concept of responsibility or self-respect.
These men are the ones who can’t keep a job, who blame everyone else for their own stupidity and laziness, who are constantly outraged that the world is not giving them the respect they deserve. Clueless, they never realize that they are in fact, getting the respect they truly deserve. Hanging around with this type of loser is like having 10 screaming kids hanging on your legs, asking for ice cream when you can’t pay for bread. Lock the doors, throw away his book of excuses and get a spine. Avoid him like you would a …blood sucking leech. (See doll here.)
2. Men Who Think Only With Their Sticks:
Well, as we well know, the streets to the courthouse are littered with broken marriages caused by men who think with their sticks and not their brains. They see something they want to poke and it does not matter if they have Halle Berry, Christy Brinkley or Pam Anderson, and their 2 kids, 3 dogs, and 4 fishes waiting at home. These men will do what they know they shouldn’t do, go get the forbidden poke.
It does not matter that you are the hottest thing since freshly baked pie, a man like this is going to give you a few diseases and mess up publicly right when you are being voted “Happiest Couple” at the Lodge. You know he’s the type to cheat as that’s how you got him from his first wife. Know that you got a weasel in your arms, and throw him away before he puts you on the front pages of the daily newspaper for murder.(See doll here.)
1. Men Who Are Cruel:
Simply put, there are certain men who are monsters hiding behind a thin veneer of charm and sanity.
There is nothing in the world as ugly or as damaging as a cruel man. For some reason, there are men out there who take only joy in seeing someone in pain (I don’t mean like in a dull headache kind of pain – I mean like a big kick in the nuts pain).
People say that it’s a power thing, but I know it’s a sickness thing. It’s sick to be you if you are with someone like him.
Don’t be distracted by the sexy grin or the bulging pecs (or bulging other stuff) on the outside. Look at the inside. Fire is beautiful but it hurts when you get burned. Stay away from these creeps as if your life depended on it, as it surely does. (See doll here.)
Beware of These Women
Friendship is a beautiful thing. Every woman needs great girlfriends who love and support her no matter what. The trouble is, not all of your friends really have your back like you think they do. It’s imperative to know the difference between healthy friendships and toxic ones.
Are some of your friends creating unnecessary drama in your world? If so, they’ve got to go. Here are seven types of girlfriends to avoid.
The Diva is high maintenance and usually a major headache to be around. If it’s not her way she’s headed for the highway and inviting her along makes everything more difficult than it has to be. You could never have a moment in the spotlight around her because she doesn’t like to share it. You love the energy she brings but ask yourself this: When was the last time she did something for you.
She flirts with everyone in sight and always knows more about the men in the room than the women. You plan to go out together but if there’s a man around who wants to chat she’s not going to pay any attention to you. At first her flirting seems harmless. She’s single, why not? Well you know what they say. Birds of a feather flock together. If you two are out together and she’s giving off “easy” vibes that means you might be too. You don’t want a rep you didn’t earn, do you? Remember, who you associate with is a reflection of who you are.
The Gossip has no clue what the definition of the word “secret” is. She’s usually the first to tell you whose husband did what with whom and why this person lost what and when. It’s fun to hear her dissect other people’s dirty laundry, but what happens when you stay home and she’s with someone else going through yours? The Gossip doesn’t mean to hurt people but she just can’t shut up. If you like to keep your private life private you may want to steer clear of her.
The Needy One
Before you can even make plans for the evening The Needy One has already called twice to be sure she gets an invite. When you go out together she’d rather talk than relax or party. She most likely has a lot going on right now and she looks to you as the person she can talk it over with.
You’re happy to be able to help, but even though you invest a lot of your time and energy into helping her it’s never enough. If you don’t call her back she gets upset and you find yourself apologizing for things you shouldn’t have to. She’s not your friend; she’s your responsibility. That’s no good.
The Hater is never satisfied. She has a comment or response for everything. You know the type. She doesn’t like the dress you chose, her drink is never mixed quite right and must be sent back, and the guys you meet are never good enough for you or her. She’s negative all the time and it will begin to block your positive vibes. If you’re waiting on a compliment from her, don’t. You’re never going to get one.
There’s nothing wrong with drinking in moderation, but this friend doesn’t know when to stop. You can’t taker her anywhere without realizing she’s had one too manym too fast. Once she does she’s no more fun and you feel like you’re babysitting instead of just hanging out. She’s always sorry the next day but then when you go out again she drinks just as much anyway. Know this woman? She will eventually get herself and you into trouble.
When she gets a night off she wants the world to stop and rotate around her so she’ll have a great time. But when it’s your turn to need a night out she’s “working late” or “has to get up super early in the morning”. She’s always on her blackberry but somehow always forgets to text or call her friends back.
When you’re out with her she does more e-mailing and venting about work than actual talking and you’re never sure she’s really paying attention to you. She’s made it clear her career comes before the relationships in her life, so what are you sticking around for?
Men’s Hairstyles: 2011
Classic: One way to keep your hair short while transitioning out of the meticulous hairstyles of last year is to adopt a hairstyle similar to Ryan Gosling‘s. You’ll need to begin with a fairly conservative cut and a side part like you did in 2010. The 2011 twist, however, is that your part need not be precise and rogue strands are encouraged. To achieve this look, work in a tiny dab of hair wax or pomade through the front of your hair, using your fingers to create a piecey effect.
Trendy Take: The longer your mane grows, the less tame 2011’s piecey hairstyle becomes, as it veers toward the look that James Franco has recently been sporting. Given the wilder feel of this men’s hairstyle, it’s an ideal option for students or guys who work in creative fields. To achieve this look, let your hair grow out for a couple of months, then tell your barber you’re going for a bed-head style so that he can layer your hair accordingly. When styling, use wax if you have thick hair or a gel-mousse on thinner hair. Use your fingers to lift hair upward and separate strands in a variety of directions. Then, lightly mist with hairspray to ensure your style holds all day (or night).
Classic: The front wave, a popular style of the 1980s, is making a strong comeback in 2011. Mark Wahlbergdemonstrates a classic way to wear this style, in which hair has a very natural, windswept look to it, as though you’ve driven at top speed downhill in a convertible (that’d be nice). To achieve this look, you’ll need medium-length hair. While your hair is wet, work in no more than a golf ball-size amount of mousse. Next, while blow-drying hair on a medium setting, use your fingers (or a brush with bristles) to coax the front of your hair upward and slightly over to one side. Finish by combing the hair on either side of your head backward.
Trendy Take: A trendier way to wear a front wave is to simply apply a little more hair product in order to achieve more of a wet look. This style pairs well with the dressy attire you might wear to restaurants, clubs or bars. Rather than mousse, you’ll want to use gel here, so run a squirt of it through your locks, concentrating more on the front section. Then, use a comb rather than your fingers to lift hair at the root and sweep it over to one side. Keep in mind that even if your wave doesn’t have as much height as Andrew Garfield‘s, you’ll still nail this men’s hairstyle for 2011.
Classic: One of the biggest trends for black men in 2011 is short hair with a very square shape. This hairstyle is a throwback to the looks that dominated the 1950s, but supersharp lines and minimal volume keep everything modern. Check out Jon Jones’ cut for an example of how to do this style right, then head to your barber and request a cut of a uniform length that’s cropped quite close to your scalp, explaining that you want your hair to form a straight line across your forehead and also down the sides. An additional benefit of this cut is that it will make your face appear more masculine.
Trendy Take: Have fun with this hairstyle by personalizing it. Ask your barber to use a razor to add asymmetrical lines to the cut (the more asymmetrical, the edgier). Alternatively, take the look to the extreme by cutting it super short.
Classic: With most male celebrities growing their hair out to some degree in 2011, the question of what to do with those extra inches is inevitable. FollowVincent Cassel’s lead and go for a look that literally makes your hair stand on end. This style works best with thicker hair that can take some product, so avoid it if your hair is fine. After working a squirt of mousse through your hair when damp, use a brush (or your hand) and a blow-dryer on a low setting to encourage your hair to remain in a vertical position. Picture a refined mad scientist, and you’ll get the idea. Once you’re satisfied, use a brush or comb to slick back the sides of your hair. Finally, spray a thin veil of hairspray over your entire head. Note, too, that as Cassel demonstrates, wearing a little gray in your hair continues to be as cool this year as it was last.
Trendy Take: A hipper version of thismen’s hairstyle resembles a messier version of a faux hawk. In essence, it’s a faux-faux hawk. To experiment with this style, as recently shown by Ewan McGregor, apply sculpting clay or wax to damp hair if you have short hair or use a strong-hold gel if you have medium-length hair. With the help of your hand and a blow-dryer, push all your hair toward the center of your head. Don’t worry if not all of it behaves — the point of this style is to be imperfect. Tousle your hair lightly, then finish with a shot of hairspray to keep everything in place.
Long And Natural
Classic: In stark contrast to all themen’s hairstyles of 2010, styles this year are generally longer and much less tidy. At the same time, certain realities, namely, working in an office, require you to maintain a pulled-together appearance. As David Beckham demonstrates, however, it is possible to wear long locks in a groomed way. His secret weapon is a great cut, so start by visiting a skilled barber. Tell him you’re growing your hair out and that ultimately you’d like it to be in layers, with the longest pieces just below your ears. Once your locks start getting longer, part your hair down the middle and comb a minute amount of pomade through the front sections of your do to keep everything smooth.
Trendy Take: The secret to getting away with sporting hair as long asChristian Bale’s is that your mane should be in top shape. That means healthy and shiny rather than stringy and greasy. Use shampoos and conditioners specifically formulated to your hair type, and use only minimal amounts of styling products — a little pomade can be applied, for instance, if you want to slick your hair back so that it stays off your face and out of your eyes. One word of caution: Unless you too are a movie star or at least a recluse of some kind, with hair this long, skip the bushy facial hair and opt for a clean shave.
Curly And Brushed Forward
Classic: The 2011 way to style curly hair is to wear it relatively short and brush it forward. What’s great about this style is that, apart from a good cut, all you’ll need is a little gel to help control your hair from becoming a frizzy mess and a quick brush — that’s it. This style will let you get out the door in five minutes flat, so it’s ideal for guys with a busy schedule.
Trendy Take: As discussed, midlength and longer hair is popular for 2011, and this trend holds true for curly hair too. Take a look atJesse Eisenberg’s long locks, which have been combed toward the front, to get a good idea of how to do this slightly disheveled style right. Once your hair is the right length, take a pea-size amount of curl-enhancing gel and simply use your fingers to move all the hair from the top of your head toward the front. Remember to visit your barber every four weeks so that your hair never gets long enough to fall into your eyes.
The Final Cut
As you can see, there have been some changes in men’s hairstyles from 2010 to 2011, with much longer lengths being emphasized for most hair types. And because switching up your hair is one of the fastest ways to upgrade your look, now is the time to start experimenting with your style.

A new variable in the Climate Change formula?
Scientists from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have discovered a key element of the climate science behind global warming… water vapor. Water vapor has long played a part in the formula for climate modeling. In fact water vapor is considered to be one of the most prevalent greenhouse effect creating emissions. The difference provided by this report is the importance of where water vapor was and is located. Previous climate modeling measured and accounted for the water vapor that appeared near the Earth’s surface, the water vapor discovered by the NOAA is at the outer edge of the atmosphere in the stratosphere.
The report states that water vapor in the stratosphere has decreased by nearly 10% since the year 2000. This may explain why the rate of global warming attributed to water vapor started to decrease during that same time. The NOAA scientists are not sure what the precise variables are that create changes in the amount of water vapor present in the stratosphere, however this is a key find that could help climate scientists with future climate modeling and predictions as well as understanding the affects of water vapor and other directly introduced to the upper atmosphere particles on global warming and cooling.
Singapore: A leader in creating greener industry
Singapore is unlike any other Asian city in that this tiny republic has managed to maximize every potential financial opportunity that has been presented to it since the end of World War II. Few people are aware if it but Singapore is now the fourth largest financial trading center in the world. They follow only London, New York and Tokyo. Since 1997 economic growth of this island nation located at the tip of the Malay peninsula has exploded. The reason for this is simple. When the British returned Hong Kong to China after their 99 year lease ran out in 1997, Many ex-pats looked for a convenient Asian trading post with a stable government. Enter Singapore with its pro UK recent past. Until 1965, the republic was another centre of the British Empire.
Singapore is geographically small. The total area of the city state numbers just 271 square miles. The country is comprised of 63 individual islands. 25% of the gross national product of Singapore comes from refining of raw materials. Another 25% is derived from transport and brokerage of same. All of this industrialization has not come without an ecological price. 100 years ago 90% of the land of Singapore was rain forest. That number plummeted to less than 15% before reforestation measures restored the rain forest to almost 25% of the usable land.
Singapore has become one of, if not the most, technologically advanced nations of the world. They lead the world in implementation of cutting edge clean technologies. A shining example of this is Singapore’s new Clean Tech Industrial Park. As part of a grand plan to achieve energy efficiency and total sustainability the government’s economic development board has partnered with the local corporate community to set up a Green Development area. Not only is the project location itself setup for minimum eco-impact and maximum sustainability, but the work within the park is all focused upon development of clean tech solutions. It is the plan of the government of Singapore to lead the world in this area. Situated on 50 hectares of land the project, to be completed by 2030 will accommodate 20,000 workers. Emphasis on the development in placed on minimizing the office and industrial impact on the land. Simple ideas such as implementation of underground parking and passive lighting are blended with high tech solar power installations. Land optimization seems to be the central theme as all buildings are designed to return more of the original rain forest to the island.
Singapore is a unique South Pacific weigh station in that it prospers as the ultimate global corporate middleman. This new industrial park will exist to develop sustainability technologies as well as incorporate them. The park streets will be lit exclusively with LEDS, the development of which having taken place in Singapore. The specific designs of these are then licensed for manufacture throughout the world. Rainwater is collected on the roofs of the massive office buildings. The system used for this gathering is further developed and marketed. Singapore became one of the wealthiest nations in the world by refining raw materials and exporting them around the word. Now they will likely pioneer the “Green age” by refining sustainability techniques and selling those ideas.
Find out about shark finning and how you can help to end it.
A hammerhead shark finned on board.
And left for dead on the sea bed.
Every year tens of millions of sharks die a slow death because of finning. Finning is the inhumane practice of hacking off the shark’s fins and throwing its still living body back into the sea. The sharks either starve to death, are eaten alive by other fish, or drown (if they are not in constant movement their gills cannot extract oxygen from the water). Shark fins are being “harvested” in ever greater numbers to feed the growing demand for shark fin soup, an Asian “delicacy”.
Not only is the finning of sharks barbaric, but their indiscriminate slaughter at an unsustainable rate is pushing many species to the brink of extinction. Since the 1970s the populations of several species have been decimated by over 95%. Due to the clandestine nature of finning, records are rarely kept of the numbers of sharks and species caught. Estimates are based on declared imports to shark fin markets such as Hong Kong and China.
StopSharkFinning.net is campaigning to achieve a worldwide ban on shark finning. That means that all sharks caught must be landed intact – their fins must not be removed while the shipping vessel is at sea.
If you are concerned about the plight of sharks – an animal that has been around since before the dinosaurs – there are plenty of things you can do to help. So go to our campaigns page and take action now!
